Happy Earth Month!
Here at Positivity Breeds Positivity, we are passionate about our Earth and embracing the most sustainable ways to live amongst her beauty. Although this month has been designated as Earth Month, we cannot afford to only focus on sustainable practices and protecting our environments for one month out of the year. We need to be proactive about protecting this wonderful ball of blue and green that harbors all of our beautiful souls. We are highlighting the Earth this month, but we need to practice sustainable decisions that aren’t limited to just April - and that is exactly what we are working towards.
Our promise to our customers is that we will make every possible decision to put our Earth first. For starters, every order is delivered in 100% compostable packaging. We do this not only for our own environmental impact, but also for the benefit of every customer. Each time an order is delivered, this package gives our customers the opportunity and the means to lessen their environmental impact by composting the packaging in which they receive their PBP merch. We are not trying to force anyone to do anything they do not want to do, but it serves as a reminder that they have the means to take a sustainable action and we have simply provided that opportunity.
Along with our compostable packaging, we are attempting to take steps towards eco-friendly products. We would like to highlight the decision-making behind our new Be Curious Not Critical Sweatshirt. This sweatshirt was made with our Earth in mind - starting with the harvesting of the materials used in building this cozy, sustainably sourced cotton sweatshirt. The cotton used to craft our sweatshirt is harvested using sustainable practices that mitigate the environmental impact. These practices include:
- Efficient water use
- Reduced use of harmful chemicals
- Care for soil health and natural habitats
These processes help lower the environmental impact of cotton farms. When you purchase sustainably-centric fashion pieces, you also reduce your own carbon footprint. It is, in essence, a true win-win for you and the planet. Although sustainably sourced cotton is great, our Be Curious Not Critical Sweatshirt has another eco-friendly trick up its sleeves - recycled polyester. Made from recycled materials, including plastic bottles, this polyester fiber has numerous benefits compared to virgin fiber, which are:
- Emits fewer greenhouse gases
- Consumes less petroleum
- Conserves water and energy
The work we do as citizens everyday truly does matter. The plastic we are pulling out of the ocean, taking out of landfills, or recycling through sustainable practices are helping create things like recycled polyester that are helping to mitigate our environmental impact and provide us with comfortable goods.
Our Be Curious Not Critical Sweatshirt is one of the homes for our happy Earth character, along with our Radiate Positivity Shirt and the Radiate Positivity Sticker. We have chosen the Earth as a mascot of the brand because we feel our message transcends borders, demographics, and political ties. It is a message for all people, and as we share this Earth with each other, we also share it with everything that came before us. We have been given the gift of a heightened consciousness that allows us to mold and manipulate our home, but just because we have the ability to do something… does not mean we should act on that ability. We believe we are here to find ways to live amongst the Earth and all its inhabitants, not just the 8 billion individuals that make up our species.
With great power comes great responsibility, and we believe that we all have a responsibility to each other, and everyone who will come after us, to leave our Earth better than we found it. Each individual has a choice, and each choice has a consequence, good or bad. We sincerely hope that, as humans, we will start making decisions knowing that the positive consequences of our actions will lead to a healthier and happier Earth. As we continue to learn and invent new tactics, new processes, and partner with new environmentally conscious vendors, we are working our way towards a sustainable future that each and every one of us has a role to play in.
We are now in a position of required action due to decades of environmental degradation. It is up to us to try and slow down - and eventually turn back - the environmental clock so that we may continue to live on this awe inspiring planet. We are taking steps, however small, to try and limit our environmental impact and we hope that you will try and take similar actions in your life. Turning off lights, taking shorter showers, reusing, recycling, or even composting food waste from your home are all steps towards a brighter future. They are so simple and can sometimes feel pointless, but if enough people make that conscious decision, we might just be alright. So go out and enjoy nature today, and remember why you are making those small sacrifices - helping to sustain our home and build a brighter, more beautiful future.
Happy Earth Month from your friends at PBP!
